This old jewelry shop is typical of Madero Street - the old entrance of the city, where the silver from the northern mines (Pachuca, Guanajuato, Zacatecas) arrived. The silversmiths were encouraged by miner Borda to make and sell silver jewelry here.
It was recently renovated as the Museo del Estanquillo, that holds the collection of popular urban art and books of famous writer Carlos Monsívais, who died in 2010.
