Hollandsche Rading is a village in the municipality of De Bilt, in the Dutch province of Utrecht. On January 1, 2021, Hollandsche Rading had 1,575 inhabitants. The village lies along the railway line from Utrecht to Hilversum and has a railway station.
Rading is a hypercorrect form of raaiing, which means line or border. The name refers to the disputed border between Holland and Utrecht at that time. In particular, the border around the Gooi was the cause of various wars in the Middle Ages. In 1719, it proved necessary to mark the border from Eemnes to Loosdrecht with stone boundary posts, which still exist today.
