Starting locations:

- Terpoorterweg 3 in Epen.
- De Smockelaer, Givelderweg 2 in Heyenrath (Slenaken).

In South Limburg there are several signposted mountain bike trails with a total length of more than 500 kilometers. The routes are linked together by connectors, creating a network that ultimately covers the whole of South Limburg. It is therefore possible to discover the entire region by mountain bike. This network structure is unique in the Netherlands.

The Vijlenroute is an advanced route and includes long climbs. A total of 580 altimeters have to be conquered and this makes the route perhaps one of the toughest in the Netherlands. However, the journey is more than worth it. The view from the Vijlenerbos is beautiful and restaurants such as the forest café het Hijgend Hert make it good to stay afterwards. As a mountain biker you must have cycled this route at least once in your life! For reasons of clarity and safety, the routes are signposted to one direction: clockwise.

The routes are situated in such a way that the mountain biker gets his money's worth, but that the most vulnerable surface, forests and nature reserves are spared. So a kind request not to deviate from the routes and never drive through vegetations. This route is made possible by Rabobank Zuid-Limburg Oost.
