Petten - Schoorlse Duinen according to Fanbassadors Heleen & Mechiel

At home in the Netherlands, a number of Fanbassadors set out to discover the most beautiful routes in the Netherlands. This is one of them. Fanbassadors Heleen Baetslé & Mechiel Vanbelle came back with this report of the cycle route:

The cycle route through the Schoorl dunes and forests was very varied: beautiful dune landscapes, picturesque villages, open polders and endless sea views. You cycle, as it were, from one world to another and that in about forty kilometers. There is certainly no shortage of peripheral activities and sights. If you would like to visit everything on your way, you will be busy for a few days. There is the beach, dunes to walk in, you can buy local products here and there or see how they are manufactured, there are information centers, museums, a sea aquarium, viewpoints, numerous catering establishments, etc. Something for everybody.

Practical:
The ride is quite tough, especially when there is a strong wind blowing from the sea. On the route there are plenty of firm, short slopes. After a while, these calf biters start to weigh a bit. For non-experienced cyclists, an e-bike can therefore be quite comfortable. You often drive in the shade between the trees and the sea breeze can be fresh, even on a slightly warmer day. A jacket or pullover can certainly come in handy. Not to mention, a good sunblock.
