Este castillo desempeñó un papel importante en el período justo antes de la famosa batalla de Waterloo. El general conde Honoré Reille, comandante del 2º cuerpo del ejército belga, se instaló en el castillo de Fosteau el 14 de junio de 1815. Al día siguiente tomó Thuin. Fue en este castillo del siglo XIV donde el general Reille, jefe del 2º cuerpo de ejército de Napoleón, estableció su cuartel general el 15 de junio de 1815. Ahora alberga varios museos. El castillo de Le Fosteau es una sólida construcción del siglo XIV. Está construido alrededor de una gran plaza poligonal, tiene siete torres y está rodeado por fosos de agua que ahora están secos. Está amueblado con elegancia, autenticidad y también con un toque de modernidad. Se puede visitar, preferentemente en grupo y con cita previa. Hay acceso a los jardines franceses, a un museo vibrante y original de la farmacia y a la habitación donde el general Reille pasó la noche del 15 de junio de 1815.
