El beguinaje de Aarschot fue fundado en 1259 después de que Enrique III de Brabante y Aleidis de Borgoña donaran su granero y los alrededores inmediatos para su creación, cerca de la iglesia de Nuestra Señora. En 1543, con la excepción de las "Siete Llagas", todo el beguinaje fue destruido por un incendio. Más de un siglo después, solo se comenzó a reconfigurar el área. Sin embargo, el carácter original del patrimonio se ha perdido debido a las renovaciones en las cercanías del beguinaje, realizadas por la propia ciudad de Aarschot.
