El ferry de Baasrode se menciona en un documento de 1296. Era una conexión importante hacia los astilleros y la estación de Baasrode. En primavera, había un intenso tráfico comercial con las primeras patatas que se cultivaban en los glebas de Moerzeke. Las parcelas de cultivo se han desarrollado a gran escala con invernaderos.
