La arquidiócesis de Malinas-Bruselas es la única arquidiócesis católica en Bélgica de la cual son sufragáneas el resto de las otras 7 diócesis católicas del país. Fue fundada el 12 de mayo de 1559 como arquidiócesis de Malinas y el 8 de diciembre de 1961 el papa Juan XXIII la elevó a arquidiócesis y otorgándole el nombre actual. Su arzobispo actual es Josef De Kesel desde el 6 de noviembre de 2015. Cuenta con 3 obispos auxiliares, 2 arzobispos eméritos, y 2 obispos auxiliares eméritos. En abril de 2014 contaba con 1,801,000 católicos que representa el 64% de la población total de su territorio; para atender a esta población la arquidiócesis cuenta con 670 sacerdotes diocesanos, 1142 sacerdotes religiosos, 88 diáconos permanentes y 1657 religiosas distribuidos en 659 parroquias.[1]
