En la época austriaca (1713 - 1795) se colocaron hitos de piedra en la Overslag para resolver una disputa entre el municipio de Axel y el de Asseneder (1722). Los hitos son verdaderas obras de arte y muestran a ambos lados un medallón con el escudo del país correspondiente. Para Austria, esto consiste en un águila de doble cabeza que mira a ambos lados con el pico bien abierto. Debajo está la inscripción Oostenryk. En el lado neerlandés se representa un león de pie y coronado con una espada curva en una garra, símbolo de justicia, y en la otra garra 7 flechas, símbolo de las siete Provincias Unidas. Debajo está la inscripción Haar Hoog mogende. Esto se refiere a los Estados Generales.
