Se trata de una construcción única. Este puente de martillo, construido exclusivamente de ladrillos alrededor de 1840, se extiende sobre el valle de Göhltal; conecta Herbesthal con Aquisgrán y se convirtió así en la primera conexión ferroviaria de Bélgica con el extranjero.
