Hasta hace unos años, los estanques aquí eran aún estanques de cultivo para plantas acuáticas. Después de la compra, la asociación de naturaleza Limburgs Landschap vzw adaptó los estanques para crear más valor natural. Las orillas de los estanques se hicieron más inclinadas y se retiró el lodo de los fondos de los estanques. Así, ha surgido un pequeño complejo de estanques con zonas de pantano y transiciones naturales. A lo largo de las orillas, ahora crecen anchas cañas. Estas cañas son muy queridas por numerosas aves, como el rascón y el avefría, para criar.
