En la calle Molenstraat, junto al puente sobre el Mark, se encuentra el magníficamente restaurado Laermolen. Antes de 1381, en este lugar había un molino de agua que se llamaba 'Laermolen' ('Het Laer' = un prado sin edificar y pantanoso). Al principio, solo era un molino de grano. Más tarde, también se habló de un molino de martillos o un molino de aceite para machacar semillas oleaginosas. A lo largo de los años, el molino fue destruido y reconstruido varias veces. Algunos entusiastas de Hoogstraten, reunidos en la asociación sin ánimo de lucro De Laermolen, restauraron este molino entre 2000 y 2004 a su antigua gloria. Incluso la rueda de agua gira de nuevo.
