La iglesia parroquial de San Jacobo en el casco antiguo se erige sobre los cimientos de una iglesia predecesora más pequeña. Ya estaba presente en el primer sello de la ciudad de 1248. Algunos cimientos de ella se han conservado hasta hoy.
Después del gran incendio de la ciudad de 1478, la iglesia fue reconstruida. La primera noticia sobre esta iglesia data de 1495, cuando tuvo lugar la consagración. En ese momento, probablemente estaban terminados el componente más antiguo, la sacristía, y el coro abovedado. El coro tiene dos tramos con bóvedas de crucería y termina en un ábside poligonal con cierre de 5/8.
