El Holzhof es el lugar deportivo más tradicional de la pequeña ciudad de Elsterwerda en el distrito de Elbe-Elster. Se encuentra en la salida del pueblo en dirección a Großenhain.
Originalmente, este terreno era un punto de transbordo en el canal de madera Elsterwerda-Grödel, que se puso en funcionamiento en 1748. Aquí se transbordaban y almacenaban la madera y otros bienes que llegaban por agua o en carros. En aquel entonces no había edificios permanentes en el terreno y se presume que solo había refugios para los transportistas, para los bonaerenses, caballos y para el forraje. Después de que el canal casi dejó de usarse debido a la suspensión del transporte de madera en 1833 y a la construcción de la línea de tren Elsterwerda-Riesa en 1875, el Holzhof también perdió importancia.
