Sarkow es un lugar residencial en el distrito Leißnitz de la ciudad no incorporada de Friedland en el distrito de Oder-Spree. Sarkow fue hasta su incorporación a Leißnitz en 1939 un municipio independiente. A finales de la Edad Media y en la temprana Edad Moderna, Sarkow fue un feudo de la familia conde von Sternberg, asentada en Bohemia.
Sarkow se encuentra en una península redondeada que se adentra en el lago Schwielochsee, aproximadamente a 4 km al suroeste de la ciudad central de Friedland. La región limítrofe al noroeste con Glowe, al norte con Leißnitz y al este con la ciudad central de Friedland. El lago Schwielochsee, que se encuentra directamente al sur, pertenece completamente al municipio de Schwielochsee. Al este, el Dammmühlenfließ formaba la frontera de la región durante una breve extensión.
