La aldea de Borgau se encuentra en la pendiente noreste de la Finne, en un terreno montañoso al oeste de las carreteras federales 87 y 250, así como al sur de la carretera federal 176.
La aldea fue mencionada por primera vez en documentos el 26 de diciembre de 1209. Sin embargo, se dice que Borgau existió antes, aunque no hay evidencia, como una aldea eslava. La actual iglesia existe desde 1818. En la aldea residían en 2012 un total de 47 personas.
