Medellín es un municipio y localidad española de la provincia de Badajoz, en la comunidad autónoma de Extremadura. De fundación romana, cabecera del condado homónimo durante la Edad Media y cuna de Hernán Cortés. Medellín conserva, pese a los destrozos de las guerras y a las inclemencias del tiempo, un importante patrimonio monumental, cuyos máximos exponentes son el teatro romano, el castillo medieval y el puente del siglo XVII sobre el río Guadiana. Su economía gira en torno a una floreciente agricultura de regadío.
