Castellón de la Plana [4] es una ciudad y municipio español, capital de la provincia de Castellón y de la comarca de la Plana Alta, ubicado en el norte de la Comunidad Valenciana. Geográficamente se sitúa al este de la península ibérica sobre una extensión de terreno llano, rodeada por distintas sierras por el interior y el mar Mediterráneo al este, ante el cual se extienden los 10 kilómetros de costa de los que disfruta el municipio. El núcleo urbano principal se encuentra a unos 40 m sobre el nivel del mar y a unos 4 km de la costa.[5] En su término municipal, se encuentra la confluencia del paralelo 40° y el meridiano 0° de Greenwich, por tanto este meridiano como línea imaginaria, pasa por muy cerca de la ciudad, concretamente por la zona del parque del Meridiano.[6]
