La subida a la subida a Lagos de Covadonga es un clásico para ciclistas y un clásico de la Vuelta. La carretera que conduce a los lagos comienza en Covadonga y tiene 12,6 kilómetros de longitud con una pendiente media del 7,3% (desnivel: 1056 m). El tramo más exigente es La Huesera, a 7 kilómetros de la cima de la subida, con una pendiente media del 15% durante los 800 metros. Fue presentado por primera vez en 1983.
