Haweswater es un embalse en el valle de Mardale, Cumbria en el Parque Nacional de los Lagos, Inglaterra. El trabajo para elevar la altura del lago natural original comenzó en 1929. Se represó de manera controvertida después de que el Parlamento del Reino Unido aprobara una Ley Privada que otorgaba a la Corporación de Mánchester permiso para construir el embalse para suministrar agua potable a la ciudad. La decisión provocó una protesta pública porque las aldeas agrícolas de Measand y Mardale Green se inundarían y el valle cambiaría para siempre.
