Poeldijk es una aldea en el antiguo municipio de Monster, y en el actual municipio de Westland. Poeldijk tiene aproximadamente 7.110 habitantes y se encuentra aproximadamente entre Monster, Honselersdijk, Wateringen y La Haya. Poeldijk se formó a lo largo de la dike norte del Gantel alrededor del año 1000. El nombre proviene del agua que se formó detrás de la presa después de que el Gantel fue represado. La aldea consistía en un conjunto de granjas a lo largo de la dike y en el siglo XIII tuvo su propia capilla. La mención más antigua del nombre 'Poeldiic' data de 1280. El área pertenecía a la señoría de Monster y estaba bajo la parroquia de Monster. A principios del siglo XVII se construyó la mansión Torenzicht a lo largo de la Wateringseweg.
