Spier es una aldea en el municipio de Midden-Drenthe en la provincia neerlandesa de Drenthe y se encuentra al este de la autopista A28, en la intersección con la carretera provincial N855. Al oeste de la A28 se encuentra el Parque Nacional Dwingelderveld.
La mención más antigua del lugar data de 1212 o 1213 como Spehoerne. En 1550 se mencionó tanto como Spyrhoren como Spyer. En el siglo XVII había quince granjas, que entonces formaban una comunidad de vida.
