Vreeswijk es una antigua aldea y antiguo municipio a orillas del Lek en la provincia de Utrecht, Países Bajos. Desde 1971 es un barrio de Nieuwegein. El barrio de Vreeswijk tenía en 2018 3428 habitantes. La historia de Vreeswijk se remonta a principios del siglo IX, en la lista de propiedades de la iglesia de San Martín en Utrecht se menciona la aldea de Vreeswijk como Fresionouuic. Esta es una composición de Fresia 'frisón' y wic 'granja o asentamiento/aldea'. Por lo tanto, el significado es asentamiento de frisones.
