La bataille de Vienne du 12 septembre 1683, sur la colline du Kahlenberg, mit fin au second siège de Vienne par les Turcs.
Cette défaite décisive des Ottomans fut le point de départ d'une campagne militaire de 16 ans qui devait permettre aux Habsbourg de reprendre les territoires de Hongrie-Croatie et de mettre fin à la menace ottomane en Europe centrale.
