Chez les Jozefieten à Melle - connus pour leur foi dans le sport comme pilier de l'éducation - le football a été joué pour la première fois sur le territoire belge. En 1863 ! Un élève irlandais, Bernard Morrogh, est revenu de vacances avec un véritable ballon de football en cuir et les premières règles du jeu. À l'époque, c'était encore moitié football, moitié rugby !
