Sur les sols arides au sud de la Région du Zwin se situe le Domaine de Ryckevelde, dont les bois sont gérés par AMINAL, Service des Forêts et Espaces Verts.
Le domaine militaire, ouvert partiellement durant les week-ends, abrite la réserve-bruyère de la Hauteur de Schobbejak.
