Le moulin de Vermeulen a été construit en 1843, en remplacement d'un moulin à vent en bois. Le moulin est situé dans la rue Vlamertingestraat, à Elverdinge. Le bâtiment appartient à la famille Vermeulen/Smagghe. C'est un moulin à grains, avec une très haute cuve
Les ailes ont été enlevées en 1909 et le moulin a été entraîné mécaniquement. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la cuve du moulin a été utilisée comme poste d'observation par les soldats allemands. Ils y ont construit plusieurs couches de briques supplémentaires pour avoir une meilleure vue sur la région.
