La série "Les douze" est sans aucun doute l'une des meilleures séries policières réalisées dans les Pays-Bas. L'histoire d'un double meurtre se déroule à Zulte. La série a également reçu une reconnaissance internationale.
La série a été filmée dans le bâtiment judiciaire de Gand. Il y a aussi eu des tournages à Lede, Kruishoutem, à la piscine LAGO Gent Rozebroeken ainsi qu'à Gand et dans les communes environnantes. Les scènes au cinéma ont été filmées à Sint-Gillis-Dendermonde au Cinéma Albert. Lorsque Frie est montrée en prison, cela se passe dans la prison De Koepel à Breda. Cette prison n'est plus en service et est utilisée notamment pour un jeu de fuite de prison.
