Den Botaniek jouxte l’hôpital Sainte-Elisabeth et ce n’est pas un hasard. Ce jardin a en effet été aménagé au 16^e siècle par Peter van Coudenberghe, apothicaire de son état, pour lui fournir les plantes médicinales nécessaires à ses remèdes.
