Vous vous trouvez ici à côté de la salle du club de canoë de Niel, les Rupelsneppen, avec derrière l'entreprise Beton Coeck. Jusqu'en 1856, un moulin à vent en pierre se tenait ici pour presser de l'huile. Celui-ci a été fondé en 1699
par Jan Kinnie, sur les restes de l'ancien Fort De Sterre, juste contre la Rupel. Et ici se déroule la légende de ‘t Kennieke, mieux connu sous le nom de “Le fantôme de l'usine de ciment”... Écoutez et frissonnez, “oep z’n Niels”.

Cette histoire fait partie de la route cyclable Geluidsgolven de HOOGTIJ! Fête dans le parc de la rivière Scheldevallei et Tourisme Rupelstreek.
