En 1838, l'abbé local fit placer une statue de Saint Antoine, après quoi l'arbre devint un lieu de pèlerinage local pour les agriculteurs de la région. Ils venaient ici demander la guérison pour leurs cochons et emportaient des glands comme nourriture pour les porcelets. Les branches de la couronne pleine de l'arbre sont d'ailleurs encore lourdement chargées de glands à l'automne.
