Saanen, aussi appelée Gessenay en français, est une commune suisse du canton de Berne, situé dans l'arrondissement administratif du Haut-Simmental-Gessenay dont elle est le chef-lieu.
La municipalité s'étend sur une surface de 119,7 kilomètres carrés. 52,8 % de cette surface sont agricoles, et 33,6 % sont forestiers, tandis que 4,2 % sont recouverts de routes ou constructions. Elle comprend les villages de Saanen, Gstaad, Abländschen, Bissen, Ebnit, Gruben, Grund, Kalberhöni, Saanenmöser, Schönried, et Turbach.
