Le 9e stade était une zone d’observation publique et un terrain de camping entre Bad Bubendorf et Liestal à l’occasion du Championnat d’Europe de football 2008. Il avait un total de 8 500 sièges. L’événement a été organisé par Messe Schweiz. Le projet n’a pas répondu aux attentes et s’est soldé par une perte de plusieurs millions.
De mars à mai 2008, diverses installations temporaires avec un camp de supporters de 350 parcelles et environ 2 000 places pour la nuit ainsi qu’un stade temporaire de 6 500 places assises et 2 000 places debout ont été construites sur le site entre Bad Bubendorf et la ville de Liestal pour le Championnat d’Europe de football 2008. Initialement, une capacité totale de 10 000 places était prévue.
