Ancienne commune indépendante créée en 1809 par scission de Rüfenach, elle a été rattachée en 1970 à la commune de Brugg.
Chaque famille originaire du lieu fait partie de la municipalité dite patricienne et est responsable de l’entretien de toute propriété située dans les limites de la municipalité.
