Lemberg est une commune allemande, située dans le Land de Rhénanie-Palatinat et l'arrondissement du Palatinat-Sud-Ouest, à proximité de la frontière franco-allemande.
Le bailliage de Lemberg appartient de 1286 à 1570 au comté de Deux-Ponts-Bitche. Ce dernier est divisé en 1606 et le bailliage de Lemberg passe alors aux Hanau-Lichtenberg. En 1736, le village, avec toute la seigneurie, entre en possession de Louis VIII, landgrave de Hesse-Darmstadt et gendre du comte Johann-Reinhardt de Hanau-Lichtenberg dont il vient de devenir l'héritier.
