Lippstadt est une ville de l'arrondissement de Soest, comptant près de 66 000 habitants, située à l'est du land de Rhénanie-du-Nord-Westphalie, à environ 70 km de Dortmund et 30 km de Paderborn. Fondée en 1185, Lippstadt est la plus vieille ville fondée de Westphalie.
Lippstadt est la plus grande ville de l'arrondissement de Soest. Elle est située sur la Lippe et touche les arrondissements de Paderborn, Warendorf et Gütersloh.
