La maison est aujourd'hui désignée sous le nom de bâtiment Fridtjof-Nansen, situé au 4, Merkelstraße à Göttingen. La maison a été construite en 1899/1900 pour le fabricant de tissus Ferdinand Levin selon les plans des architectes berlinois Hans Grisebach et August Dinklage.
La villa a une superficie d'environ 750 m² et comprend quatre étages, dont deux étages complets. Cela donne une surface d'utilisation totale de 1850 m². Des escaliers en marbre mènent au hall d'entrée du bâtiment. Ici, des colonnes particulièrement richement décorées sont remarquables, tout comme les vitraux conçus par Georg Karl Rohde de Brême. Une cheminée est encadrée de statues de lions portant l'ancien blason de Göttingen, un G en or. Au sous-sol se trouve une cuisine ornée de carreaux de Delft.
