L'accident du Wuppertal Schwebebahn a eu lieu le 12 avril 1999 sur un tronçon de voie près de la station Robert-Daum-Platz. Dans cet accident impliquant le train GTW 72 no 4 de la Wuppertaler Stadtwerke , cinq personnes perdent la vie tandis que 47 sont blessées, dont certaines grièvement. Il s'agit du pire accident de l'histoire du Schwebebahn et, à ce jour, le seul depuis l'ouverture du chemin de fer en 1901 à avoir eu une issue fatale.
