Le nouveau château d’Uhyst est situé à l’extrémité nord du village du même nom d’Uhyst, dans le district saxon de Görlitz. Il est situé près de la rivière Spree, qui traverse le village, et borde le parc paysager de Bärwalder See. Le château, aujourd’hui vide, comprend un jardin baroque et un parc paysager à l’anglaise.
À Uhyst, il y avait déjà un manoir au 15ème siècle. Au XVIe siècle, Kaspar von Nostitz fit construire un château dans le Hirschgarten local, qui resta en possession de sa famille jusqu’à ce que Hans von Warnsdorf auf Kuhna l’acquière en 1607. Son fils la vendit à Hans von Metzradt, qui devint seigneur féodal d’Uhyst en 1626. En 1725, Friedrich Caspar Graf von Gersdorff remplaça les descendants de Metzradt en tant que seigneur féodal.
