L'Indemann est, par sa taille et son emplacement, perché au sommet de Goltsteinkuppe, le symbole visible de loin des perspectives que l'indeland offre à ses habitants. Son architecture moderne représente l'avenir technologique de la région, son éclairage qui change constamment dans l'obscurité symbolise la transformation structurelle de la zone minière de lignite ; sa stabilité fait écho à l'histoire de plus de 10 000 ans de l'indeland. Le monument de 36 mètres de haut désigne son bras vers le paysage en constante évolution de la mine à ciel ouvert d'Inden. Depuis les nombreuses plateformes d'observation, le spectateur peut profiter d'une vue panoramique, spectaculaire, sur l'indeland.
