Odenheim était un prévôté du Saint-Empire romain germanique.
Au début du XIIe siècle, l’archevêque Bruno de Trèves fonde le monastère de Wigoldesberg sur ses terres familiales. Le monastère était peuplé de moines du monastère de Hirsau. Le prince-évêque de Spire était en détention depuis 1339.
