La Wembach prend sa source dans le Teufelsrechgrund, au sud-est du quartier de Rohrbach à Ober-Ramstadt. Elle passe à l'est du village de Wembach, traverse Reinheim et se jette dans la Gersprenz. Une partie de la Wembach alimente en cas de crue le Langen Graben, qui se rejoint au nord de l'étang de Reinheim avec le Dilsbach pour former le Landwehrgraben, lequel se jette dans la Gersprenz après environ un kilomètre.
La Wembach est un ruisseau de montagne riche en matériaux fins et carbonatés. La région des ombres est sa zone de pêche dominante. Son bassin versant a une superficie de 14,7 km² et son débit moyen est de 114 l/s. Son état écologique est jugé insatisfaisant.
