Le Hornisgrinde est une chaîne de montagnes située dans la partie nord de la Forêt-Noire. Le point culminant de cette crête se trouve à quelques kilomètres au sud (1164 mètres d’altitude), la partie nord de cette crête montagneuse a le sommet à 1130 mètres d’altitude. La partie nord de cette crête est facilement reconnaissable à l’impressionnante tour de télévision SWR. L’accès au sommet peut parfois être fermé par une barrière. En cas de gel, il faut tenir compte de la glace qui tombe de la tour de télévision !
Le Hornisgrinde-Nord est souvent escaladé en combinaison avec l’Unterstmatt ou à partir de Sasbachwalden. Dans les deux cas, vous passerez ensuite un pont de près de 960 mètres de dénivelé depuis la vallée du Rhin.
