Bourcefranc-le-Chapus est une commune du Sud-Ouest de la France, située dans le département de la Charente-Maritime . Ses habitants sont appelés les Bourcefrançais ou Chapusais et les Bourcefrançaises ou Chapusaises.
Commune de création récente — née en 1908 de la fusion de plusieurs hameaux dont les deux principaux sont Bourcefranc et Le Chapus —, elle n'en possède pas moins une riche histoire et un patrimoine urbain et maritime diversifié. C'est la dernière commune du continent à être traversée avant d'aller sur l'île d'Oléron, accessible depuis 1966 par le viaduc d'Oléron.
