La fontaine de Sainte-Hune fait partie de l'histoire du village de Hunawihr. Dès le 7ème siècle, il est dit qu'Huna, la femme de Hunon, qui vivait dans une villa gallo-romaine à l'emplacement actuel de l'église, s'occupait du linge des nécessiteux près de la fontaine.
Une légende dit que lors d'une mauvaise année de récolte, Huna aurait transformé l'eau de la fontaine en vin. Elle a été canonisée en 1520 par le pape Léon X sous le nom de "Sainte Lavandière", à la demande du duc Ulrich de Wurtemberg.
Le sommet de la colonne de la fontaine porte la date de 1656.
Le lavoir attenant date du début du 20ème siècle.
La fontaine était une source d'eau potable pour les habitants. C'était le lieu de rencontre des lavandières et des vignerons.
