Grado est une commune de 7 745 habitants , dans la province de Gorizia, région autonome du Frioul-Vénétie Julienne, en Italie, important centre touristique et thermal, également connu sous le nom d'Isola del Sole et, pour son histoire particulière, la Première Venise.
Le territoire de la municipalité de Grado s'étend entre l'embouchure de l'Isonzo dans la mer Adriatique et la lagune de Grado qui couvre une superficie d'environ 90 km², qui va de Porto Buso à Fossalon . Grado est située sur l'île principale et est divisée en de nombreuses zones et quartiers : Gravo vecia (l'ancienne ville entourée par le périmètre du camp romain, Borgo de fora, Isola della Schiusa, Colmata, Centro, Squero, Città Giardino, Valle Goppion - ancienne vallée Cavarera, Grado Pineta, Primero.
