Riva del Garda est une commune italienne d'environ 17 500 habitants située dans la province autonome de Trente dans la région du Trentin-Haut-Adige dans le nord-est de l'Italie. Elle se trouve au bord du lac de Garde.
Jusqu'en 1918, la ville fait partie de la monarchie autrichienne , puis Autriche-Hongrie , chef-lieu du district de même nom, l'un des 21 Bezirkshauptmannschaften dans la province du Tyrol.
La ville intégrera le royaume d'Italie après la Première Guerre mondiale.
