Cortina d'Ampezzo est une commune de la province de Belluno en Vénétie et station de ski des Dolomites ayant accueilli les Jeux olympiques d'hiver de 1956 et qui les organisera à nouveau en 2026, en compagnie de Milan.
La ville est située à 1 210 m d'altitude, au cœur des Dolomites. Près de la célèbre station, le Lagazuoi, dont la cime qui atteint 2 835 mètres, est très recherché par les alpinistes à cause de ses parois abruptes. La dolomie, roche calcaire, s'irise de rose au crépuscule du soleil d'hiver.
