Le château de Donnafugata est situé à environ 20 km à l'ouest de Raguse, dans la province éponyme, en Sicile.
Le site était déjà occupé par les Arabes qui y avaient établi des fortifications dès, semble-t-il, le XIe siècle . Le nom « Donnafugata » signifie en italien « dame enfuie. »
