Ce cimetière général d'Eemnes situé sur la Laarderweg a été créé en 1828 après que l'interdiction d'enterrer dans les églises a été proclamée. Pour l'aménagement du cimetière, la commune a acheté un terrain à une distance suffisante de l'agglomération du village. Le terrain a été surélevé et délimité par une haie. Un règlement a été établi et un fossoyeur a été nommé. Il a été stipulé dans le règlement que le fossoyeur "notera avec précision qui, quand et dans quelle tombe est enterré".
En entrant par le portail, nous arrivons dans la partie la plus ancienne du cimetière. Au fond, derrière l'auditorium se trouve un mur à urnes.
